Oval Timber Grommet: ADD003
How is the Oval Timber Grommet made?
The Oval Timber Grommet is designed and handcrafted in solid American Oak at Zuster's Design and Manufacturing HQ in Thomastown, Victoria.
-Timber is selected, and Zuster's Head CNC Operator machines the grommet to the specified width (customisable, standard 600mm wide by 90mm deep), cutting the oval cable pass-through through the timber
-The grommet is passed to the Cabinet Maker leading assembly of the client's piece, who fits a steel plate beneath the grommet to hold and guide the cables
-The Cabinet Maker cuts a hole into the side of the unit so cables can run from the grommet into the piece
-The grommet is fit-tested and re-sanded in preparation for finishing
-Zuster's Colour and Finish Specialist applies the finish to the client's entire piece, together with the grommet, for a seamless, matching look
Cable management runs from the top of the oval grommet, with cables sitting on the steel plate beneath. From there, cables pass through a hole in the unit extending out to floor or wall power.

Customisation Options
Width is customisable to suit the desk or table, and every unit is finished in any Zuster timber finish to match the surrounding piece.
Ideal Use Case
Best suited to desks or boardroom tables where several cables need to be managed together, and where the unit can accommodate a side cable exit. For a lighter cable load, the Round Timber Grommet is the simpler choice.
FAQ
How is this different from the Round Timber Grommet? The Oval Grommet handles more cables and includes a steel plate to keep them organised. The Round Grommet is a simpler, single pass-through for lighter cable loads.
Is it handmade or machined? Both. The grommet is precision cut by our Head CNC Operator for a perfect fit every time, then hand fitted and finished by the Cabinet Maker leading your piece's assembly at our Thomastown workshop.
What's the lead time for this add-on? Every piece begins its life at our manufacturing headquarters in Thomastown, Melbourne, where Zuster's own cabinet makers and upholsterers hand-craft it from raw material through to final detailing. Because your piece is made to order rather than pulled from a warehouse, it's ready in just 6 to 8 weeks, in the Zuster timber finish and fabric of your choice, built to be lived with for decades rather than years. Custom sizing and configurations are available on request, so the piece is made to fit your space, not the other way around.
